With no collective bargaining agreement forthcoming, teams have already began to cut all of their players to get under the salary cap(92 million dollars). Teams like the redskins are in cap hell and will now be forced to pay the piper. Rumors are that the skins will have to cut 10+ players of consequence. Other teams in cap hell are the raiders, jets, chiefs, and bucs.
If no agreement is reached by 4pm tomorrow, there will not be a salary cap in 2007 and then in 2008 revenue sharing is out the door and teams will be able to spend as much as they want(skins=yankees, cowboys=red sox). Teams like Jax, Cincy, SD will be small market teams that will struggle to survive in the competitive sense. Also this could open the flood gates for college players to leave after 1 year of college or even after high school unfortunately. Gene Upshaw of the players union states that the players will never agree to another cap if 07 becomes an uncapped year. This is going to get ugly.
